Cost & Terms
At Building Young Leaders, LLC we value and appreciate your business! We do our best to bring you fabulous dance experiences at a reasonable cost, and we want you to get the best value we can offer!
1. Registration Fee
A flat rate registration fee of $20 per child is due at time of registration (non-refundable), along with first month tuition fee. If your child is taking multiple Performing Arts classes, pay only one registration fee per child, per school year (August - May)
2. Monthly Tuition*
Tuition is paid on the 10th of each month though school year (August - May) Automatically charged to the credit/debit card on file. For monthly tuition amounts please see below under "Payment Options" or visit the individual class pages. For all performing arts classes, except YLPAC, August is a half month and so tuition will be prorated by half, please see the individual performing arts class for the specific amount.
*Tuition rates are based on the intrinsic value of the chosen class. Value is not based on the length of the class, nor on student attendance.
Discounts are available for multiple classes (see below) must include code.
The goal of a performing arts class is to gain skills and experience performing, so all students are expected to be perform unless extraordinary circumstances prevent this. All performances are mandatory. Each performing arts class has an in-studio showcase in January and participates in a large production in May. In addition to those performances, classes often perform at community events throughout the year, which are announced with ample time to make necessary arrangements.
Please note that some classes have significantly more performance commitments. Singers Company has 3 to 5 shows in December and 3 to 5 shows in May. YLPAC is explicitly a touring company and as such often has one or more performances each month. All YLPAC students are making a commitment upon registering for class to tour both locally in the spring and out-of-area in June.
4. Performance Payment (for May show)
$50 flat rate per family (not per child). Paid on November 1. If a child is registered after November 1, then the performance fee will be charged on the 1st of the following month from the registration date. Automatically charged to the credit/debit card on file (non-refundable). We believe that cost should not prohibit a child's support system from attending the show! We want ALL of their friends and family to attend the spring performances Free-of-Charge! To avoid charging admission ($15.00 - $20.00 per person), each family pays a flat, non-refundable Performance Payment. Be sure to invite all of your friends and family to every performance to show the kids how important they are! This fee does not cover the Christmas Show fundraiser.
5. Costume Rental Fee**
Performing Arts Classes
$50 flat rate per student (non-refundable). Paid on February 1, automatically charged to the debit/credit card on file. If a child is registered after February 1, then the costume fee will be charged on the 1st of the following month from the registration date. Costume fees build and maintain our costume and prop inventory, enabling us to keep costume fees at this low cost. BYL keeps the costumes it purchases. We do this to avoid charging a significantly higher costume fee (between $100 - $300). This cost covers two performances.
In place of the $30.00 Costume fee, Singers Company girls will purchase two $50.00 Costumes over the year, due before each of the two Singers Company costume purchases are made.
**Students supply their own 'under-costume' leotard or white t-shirt and black shorts, as well as common costume pieces from their existing home wardrobe.
6. Parent Involvement & Crew Fees
$20 Crew Fee waived! To avoid charging this Crew Fee, every performing arts family is asked to give Parent Involvement hours each semester. Parent Involvement opportunities are posted in the BYL Center Lobby. If involvement needs are not being met parents will be notified via e-mail. If Parental Involvement remains insufficient, we reserve the right to initiate the $20 crew fee to hire additional assistance.
7. Declined Payments
It is the parents' responsibility to update all outdated credit card information before scheduled auto-pay dates. A $20.00 fee will be charged for any declined payment due to insufficient funds or outdated card information. This information may be updated by going to the "Register" page of the website.
Identical uniforms are standard practice and required so that a teacher who is trying to look for uniformity in the way the students move, can easily spot differences and correct them. Different clothing is distracting and an impediment to the group as they try to learn techniques and choreography. Specific shoes are required as a matter of safety. Shoes are chosen for several reasons, such as tread, grip, and heel stability. Please refer to the "Appropriate Attire" page for more information.
Regular attendance is important. It takes regular and constant repetition for the body and mind to learn the movements and . Students are expected to attend all classes except when ill, injured, or due to a family emergency. Excessive unexcused missed classes will be a factor in casting choices and choreography.
No student is permitted to participate in a class if they are more than ten minutes late to that class. This is an injury prevention measure. A late student will be asked to sit and observe class.
Unless otherwise specified, BYL classes are a school-year long commitment. Dis-enrolling requires four week cancellation notice, and parents are responsible for tuition during these four weeks. If a child would like to change to another BYL class during the school year (class hopping), four week notice is required.
We currently offer one payment plan for our Young Leader Performing Arts classes*
All fees are automatically charged to the credit/debit card on file after the first payment is made, and are non-refundable.

Discounts cannot be retroactively applied once classes begin. Discounts do not apply to Singers Company, the Young Leaders Performing Arts Company, nor Academic Enrichment classes. Discounts may not be combined.
